can any one guide me on how to add a menu item to teamsite dropdown fields "file", "view" and "edit". This menu item should trigger a workflow/cgi script.

Have you tried to read the Admin guide? It has quite comprehensive description on how to do this, including the parameters that are passed to a CGI scripts from the GUI.

The keyword to search for is 'Custom Menu Items'

I guess you are using pre-6 TeamSite, right?

You can create a custom menu in the [iwcgi] section of iw.cfg (in pre TS 6.0).
