The files are locked by the previous users

Hi All,
In my workflow, the files being generated by generator, need to be approved by an approver, however when the file reached the approver, it remains in the locked condition. How shall I unlock these files before it reaches the approver?

Hi,

I think the easiest way to accomplish this is to put an external task just before your Approvel task which will unlock the files attached to the workflow. Have a look in your <iw-home>/local/bin folder. There should be (last time I checked it now came with Teamsite) a script called unlock.ipl. If this is not there let me know and I can post a copy. It is a very simple script.

In your task you could add an attribute unlock ="t".

For e.g.
<usertask name="Submit" owner="__TAG__('iw_user');"
unlock="t" description='Author Content Approval'>

unlock="t" ONLY applies to the submittask - and my guess is that if there is an approval step in question here, they want to have the approval step take place BEFORE the submittask, thus this is not a solution.

Using either an externaltask running unlock.ipl or potentially a locktask (with success and failure transitions) is generally the way to go. File locking and the transitioning of those locks within the context of a workflow is unfortunately one of the more black-ish arts in TeamSite Workflow development.

Yes, thats right...my mistake unlock="t" only applies in submittask. Triggering an externaltask to unlock the file should do.
