content conversion - do we need to execute isfsfix
srvijayanandh
The iwfsck command was run on the teamsite4.5 content store. It gave around 5 errors, basically all are deletes. example : iwfsfix delete_tag
Now i dont want to execute these commands as we dont have time to repeat the whole process of running iwfsck. - the content store is huge.
Can i omit these errors and run iwconvert straight away?
thanks,
Vijay

I wouldn't recommend *not* running the fixes - but you might be able to get away with running the iwconvert first, and then running iwfsck on the converted backing store (where it's a LOT faster to run iwfsck) -- however I'd suggest checking with Support first.

Thanks for the quick response fish.
one more question.
iwconvert is a read only operation on the source content store - right? Is there any chance of the source content store getting corrupted due to iwconvert? i dont think there is any.
Am i right in assuming this?
thanks,
Vijay

The source store (4.5.x) is only being read - and therefore should be able to become [more] corrupt.
The target store (5.5.2) is being written to - and could become corrupt if something unexpected happens (though I believe it's pretty robust) - I have no idea how well it deals with the GI part of GIGO though - and that's where my concern would lie if you were planning to convert from a backing store with known issues.
