establishinglocking in DatacaptureServlet

Hello,
I have a situation where content managers can link directly to a page's DCR in a staging area of our site with a link directly to the DatacaptureServlet. However, usaing this link doesnot cause the files to be locked. Does anyone know what parameter needs to be passed to DatacaptureServlet to lock the DCR on opening?
