This is one of those long-standing issues. The only solutions I know of are: (a) use iwversion to get the build number, and (b) look in IWHOME/../IWOV_Upgrades/, and/or (c) [with 'a'] look at https://support.interwoven.com/kb/kb_show_article2.asp?ArticleID=50326 (if you have access to the support site - as it does not appear to be available on DevNet)

Note - with respect to 'b' - you have to use a bit of perverse logic - for instance: if you see IWHOME/../IWOV_Upgrades/TeamSite/5.5.2/3.0 - it means you have TS 5.5.2 SP2b (not SP3)
