DCT Question

In a DCT, when the writer changes a reference to a body field, they have to go back and delete the original reference field. Is there any way of adding the functionality to change the reference field to a body field, in one step?

I was planning on adding another option to certain cotainers, in the datacapture.cfg file, that would add a body and then delete the original reference. I know how to add the body field, but how would I delete the reference field from within datacapture.cfg? Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks, I appreciate the help.

Here is a snippet of datacapture.cfg to explicate what I am trying to do:

Any suggestions? I think I would have to change some of the internal TeamSite files, but I am not 100%.

Perhaps I am being thick, if so sorry -- but I have read your original post a couple of times and I don't understand what you are trying to achieve. Perhaps you could provide further details, worked examples, use case, etc ?

I am having a little trouble explaining it myself. Lets see, if there is a field on a DCT that is a reference field(plain text box), and I want to switch it to a body field(visual formatter field), I have to delete the reference field, then add a body field. If one has to repeat this process multiple times, it can take a while.

I was wondering if there was any way that you can switch a body field to a reference field in one step? I thought I could edit the datacapture.cfg so that whenver I add a body field, the reference field is automtically deleted. Creating a sort of toggle effect.

Now, what I can't seem to figure out is how I would delete a reference field through the datacapture.cfg file.
I am attaching an image to get at what I am trying to do.

After viewing your attachment, your question makes a lot more sense. You're using a multi-typed replicant by using containers. The functionality that makes you remove and readd to change the type of the replicant is base TeamSite functionality. Although I've never tried this, there should be a way to use FormAPI to custom create a button that allows you to change the type of the replicant without having to delete/readd it. If anyone's ever done this before, I'd like to see an example of the FormAPI code myself.
