Task Level Variable Modification

Hi Friends,

Quick question:

Can the task level variables of one task be modified by another task? Or can only the task which owns them modify them?

For example, let's say my workflow has an external task call Send Email that, naturally, sends email, and it has a task level variable called "mail_to". Can a task earlier in the workflow set the value of Send Email's "mail_to" variable?

Of course - all you need is a task object referencing the task you want to modify.

It seemed like an "of course" thing to me, but, well, I've learned that what I think this product should do and what it actually does are not always in agreement.
