Is there a rationale behind not allowing a 'Favorite' to be added when you're within a workarea and have *no* files selected?

It seems to me that it should behave as if I were in the parent directory and had selected this directory before asking to have it added to "My Favorites".

(if this has been fixed in 6.1 - let me know - it's rather annoying - that plus the fact that adding a new favorite is under View rather than Actions where it would make more sense IMO)

it looks like in 6.1 it's been fixed. I managed to add a favourite being in a directory with no files selected

This is a good thing. After listening in on the 6.1 webcast, I think you guys did a good job of fixing some obvious shortcomings in 6.0. I look forward to rolling out 6.1 to our users. There's still more good things to do. Ghoti is definitely going to find some good issues for the next go around.
