Preview - Internal Server Error on NEW 6.1 Install

Jeremy

Win2000 SP4 - Teamsite 6.1

Hi,
Maybe I am missing something here but it is driving me nuts!

I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled many (many is greater than a slew but less than a cresendo)times. I have even gone as far as removing the OS and reinstalling it.

But every time it appears to install correctly, and I am sure it has, but then I copy across the Example Templatedata from iw-home, change templating.cfg so that it recognises the correct branches.
I then create a dummy DCR, save it and then click on Preview. And this is where it all seems to go wrong.
I get Internal Server Error: Telling me to check the error.log file for more information.
In the iw-home/iw-webd/logs/error.log file and it says the following:

Premature end of script headers: e:/iwov/iw-home/httpd/iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi

I also check the iw-home/iw-webd/logs/access.log and the last entry there (after clicking preview) is:

"POST /iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi/iwtmplpreview.cgi HTTP/1.1" 500 587 0 administrator

I can still run the show_env.cgi script to see all the environment variables. Even running it through the iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi works. So it seems there is some kind of problem with the iwtmplpreview.cgi.

I have stopped and started the services and there has been no change.

Anyone have any ideas about why this is happening?

Thanks,

Jeremy

I'm not sure how much, if anything, it will tell you - but try running IWHOME/httpd/iw-bin/iwtmplpreview.cgi from a DOS prompt and see what you get.

On my 6.0L Solaris system I see:~ > $IWHOME/httpd/iw-bin/iwtmplpreview.cgi
Content-type: text/html; charset=UTF-8

<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>FormsPublisher error</TITLE></HEAD><BODY BGCOLOR='#ffffff' TEXT='#000000'>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="Javascript">

</SCRIPT>
</BODY></HTML>
~ >
I haven't actually played around with any of the OOTB templates and haven't tried previewing anything yet - so I'm not sure whether Preview is working for us in 6.0L either - and of course there's a possibility that the problem is in the DCR or the PT too...

Hi Ghoti,

Thanks for the reply. Ran it on the command line and got the same output as you:

E:\Iwov\iw-home\httpd\iw-bin>iwtmplpreview.cgi
Content-type: text/html; charset=UTF-8

<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>FormsPublisher Preview And Generate</TITLE></HEAD><BODY BGCOLOR='#ffffff' TEXT='#000000'>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="Javascript">

</SCRIPT>
</BODY></HTML>

I even cut down the DCT and TPL to pretty much nothing. DCT is only one item and TPL is only printing out "HELLO WORLD!" but it is still the same.

Any other ideas?

Anyone?

Thanks

PS - Also ran itpt_compile.ipl on TPL and DCR and it gave the output correctly.

The error message is the kind of thing one tends to get when some code sends something to STDOUT *before* having sent the "Content-Type: text/html\n\n" header.

The hard part is figuring out what's generating "premature output"

Template preview does work on 6.0L. Not sure what's going wrong with this particular install.

Jeremy

Jason,

Are you saying you are getting the same problem on your install?
Any idea what might be causing it? This is on a Brand New 6.1 install with a Brand New Win2000 SP4 install! And it still does not allow preview!

Migrateduser

Jeremy,

No, sorry for the confusing post. I'm saying that preview works fine on 6.0L for us. I have seen preview not work in previous versions (like 5.5.1 SP2). But it was a different error message all together. Never did resolve that one either.

If you haven't done so already, I'd probably file a support case.

Did anyone resolve this issue as I have the same symptoms.

Thanks

Did anyone find a solution to this? I have the same problem!

We have fixed this error for one of the customers.
It was found that templating.cfg had unwanted characters. On removing those or taking a fresh templating.cfg and using Wordpad / Text pad to add the customization to get a clean one. Using this new file these errors were fixed.
