SAMBA with TeamSite on AIX

Hi,

We have TeamSite 5.5.2 installed on AIX. While installing TS, we have opted for SAMBA. Now that we want to uninstall/remove SAMBA as that has some security issues in our env. What is the process to remove SAMBA ? Any uninstall script ? It normally start with iwserver.

You can just stop the SAMBA service and take it out of the startup (/etc/rc.d/rcX.d).

There are /etc/rc.d/rc1.d, /etc/rc.d/rc2.d....../etc/rc.d/rc9.d. Which one to remove for taking SAMBA out. They are all for system, not for IWOV.

do not remove any of them.

grep samba /etc/rc*

edit and comment out something that looks like

/iw-home/samba/.... start

If you are uncertain, post the results of grep

removing any of those will stop more that Samba

I think he meant:
grep samba /etc/rc.d/rc*/*

Probably will get better results.

Looks like the startup script for iw.samba is in /etc/rc.d/rc2.d and is named S50iw.samba. If you're absolutely sure that you're never going to want to put SAMBA in your startup again, you can just remove S50iw.samba, however if there's even a glimmer of doubt, I'd suggest backing up the S50iw.samba file somewhere before removing it from the /etc/rc.d/rc2.d directory. Once it's removed from that directory, you should be able to reboot without iw.samba starting. You'll also want to make sure that you "kill" the iw.samba service that's currently running so that you don't have to reboot the server. I actually don't remember how to stop the iw.samba service on Unix. I think it's /etc/init.d/iw.samba stop. Can someone verify that please?
