Custom UI per Users not Role

Hi everyone! Smiley Happy

Maybe I'm missing something here (or it's not possible), but after looking through both the UI Customizations manual & README_xml_config.txt (Usig TS 6.0) as well as several searches here, but I can't seem to find anywhere that would mention about anything on making portlet (or JSP within a portlet) display on a per user (or list of users) basis. (Customizations here meaning a particular user or set of users sees a particular JSP or portlet, but not another user's portlet/JSP.)

We already have several customizations on CCStd, but It's come to the point that we may have to get more, dare I say.... idiot-proof.

Any thoughts or thread-links concerning the matter would be helpful! :}

I haven't seen anywhere how you can do that.
It would be a good feature to play it by user/group (or to create your own roles -> groups)

What you can do is configure CC to display the portal,
and have logic in there to display jsp's based on the user's information.

IE user ID, groups etc.

The only thing is that if they should't see the portal, they'll have some wasted space, unless you come up with some default display for every one else.

I'm with you on this one. I haven't found a good way to do this either and actually can't believe that is not a built in option/functionality in TS 6.1. How do you create a customer customizable interface and not allow the GUI to be customized base on userID or roles. Considering that's what TS access is built on.

Sorry, had to vent. Just implemented TS 6.1 in production and I just love having to build workarounds for items/functionality that should be out of the box.

Maybe focus groups should be brought back so that the customers can have a voice before new products are released.

I believe what you are looking for comes as a new feature in 6.5 where a functionality could be restricted by a Teamsite group which consists of some set of users, as opposed to how 6.1 groups OS users into standard roles.

As far I can tell 6.5 still limits the ability to restrict menus, portlets, tabs, etc. to roles - not to users and/or groups.

You can manage groups within TeamSite in 6.5 - but that's a completely different feature.

... what ghoti said. Although this feature would be nice, I don't think I'd expect it out of the box. I've seen it too many times where people expect it to be OOTB. Useful to a few, not to most others. In this case, personalization comes at a performance cost -- which has probably limited this feature request.
