New Job Option

SMB

I would like the author role to be able to initiate a workflow. Is there any way to get the New Job option to appear in the File drop down menu for authors?

I believe this can be done with a custom menu item (that may need reconsideration with 6.x) but I have also heard that this is against the licensing policy. Anyway since the product doesn't enforce the license I think you can do it.

This was provided to my customer from Support - so for better or worse:

custom_menu_item_newjob="File","New Job","iwnewjob.cgi","author","width=800,height=570,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes"

TeamSite 6 (OOTB) allows Author's to run New Job (it's under the Action menu rather than File in CCP - not sure about initiating a new job in CCS)

As of TS 6.1 any user can create a New Job in both UIs. Its available in CC-Std as a link in the Tasks portlet.

Thanks for your help. I'll try adding the new job option to the file menu. My ultimate goal is to have the author run a script. I planned to accomplish that through a new workflow job, but I think I'll also try adding a custom menu item that just triggers the script.
