Import file - File size

sspopuri

I am using TeamSite 5.5.2

I am trying to Import File large files using TeamSite import functionality. But TeamSite doesn't import files over certain size (like 10mb - I am not sure of the size, but larger size files are not imported).

Is this a bug in TeamSite? Does every one has the same problem?

Regards,
Shyam.

Hi Shyam

You might find this post informative. It discusses what appears to be your problem.

Hope this helps

I tried all that they say in the above refered thread. But no luck.

Any more ideas?

Shyam.

You could use the \\IWSERVER share and import your files that way.

You'll probably need to supply some more details about the
error you are seeing and what your setup is..

Also, which TeamSite SP are you using?

We import very large files here, in the 500 MB range, TS 552 SP4 Solaris 2.8

what is happening to yours ?

sspopuri

We are using TS 5.5.2 SP3 on Solaris 8.

Basically when I try to uplaod any file over 30mb, I get the following error :

Error importing file file_name_removed_for_this_post.mpg to TeamSite server:
Error sending file to 'http://server.name.removed.for.this.post/iw-bin/iwfileupdownload.cgi':
Couldn't read file c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\filename_removed_for_this_post.mpg:
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError - null

How much memory do you have on the *client* machine?

512 Mb!

I don't think its a memory problem!!

512 Mb is a base value these days (not like the old days when having 16K was bleeding edge ;-) - and if you've got other things running on your [client] system you may not have full access to the entire 512 Mb's.

It certainly looks like Memory is an issue since you're getting a:

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError - null

error message. I'm assuming it's the client-side since the error messages are also indicating Windows-style paths rather than Unix-style paths - but I could be wrong, perhaps the memory problem is still on the server side?

OK guys!!!

Here is the issue:

TeamSite and TeamSite Templating Service Pack 4 fixes the following bugs
# 43645: LaunchPad failed to import large size files(i.e. > 500K).

I got it!!

Shyam,

You were using 5.5.2_SP3 and had the problem, but
with SP4 the problem went away?

Hmm.. that shouldn't be, because that code was
changed for SP3 not SP4.

The bug 43645 is actually for a different scenario
that is rare.. a customer had written a custom event
trigger to muck with file ownership and permissions
during an upload/import.

Well, if it's working, that's all that matters... :-)
