Use of Grouptask
tsrookie
Gidday all,
I have a workflow with two group tasks, the second group task doesn't behave the same as the first,
The first grouptask, allows a member of the group to take ownership, the second grouptask has the owner of the first grouptask by default, and the edit function is greyed out for the listed files.
Any help appreciated
Thanks Colin

You haven't really specified what kind of help you are after.
I'm assuming you are asking to have the second task owned by the user who took ownership of the first task.....?
If that is the case, then your second task should just be a "usertask".
You should then place a change owner external script
before
this second task.
This external task should change the owner of the second task based on the owner of the first.
Search the forums for "change owner" - you'll find out more about that.

Hi John,
Thanks for responding, what I didn't understand was why the second group task didn't behave like the first and allow one of the group members to take ownership and while the task view screen listed myself as the owner and I was unable to edit the attached files.

The second grouptask should behave the same as the first grouptask unless one of the externaltask scripts in between the two grouptasks did something to alter that behavior.
If you're sure that no such manipulation was done, you should probably contact Interwoven Support with a slimmed-down reproducible case.

Thnaks Fish,
What I am trying to do is implement the sort of workflow you recommended in an answer to one of my previous posts, I've come a long way in a few weeks.
This is our navigation management workflow, for creating our primary and secondary menu ssi's. For each primary menu item there may or may not be a secondary menu, in most cases there is.
When the workflow is instantiated (new job) it checks to see if the primary menu dcr has been created if not it copys a blank dcr to the correct location and attaches that to the workflow for editting, Next step is to see if they have created any secondary menu dcrs by checking the appropriate location, if created the user is propmpted to edit them or if they haven't been created they are asked if they want to create them. Its these blank ones that have been created that I can't edit as mentioned in my previous post, I suspect it is a permissions proiblem and will investigate further.

as a side issue, I don't quite understand as to why you need 2 sets of DCRs for 2 levels of menus.
I create up to 3 levels of menus using 1 single DCT....

Hi Greg,
Thanks for your response, I wish I had your experience, next implementation I intend to combine what we did with NSW Dept of Ed and what I've done here with the QLD Dept of Emp and Training and have only one DCT and produce all the ssi's, do the breadcrumbing and produce a sitemap, automatically add page titles etc.

So you have an externaltask (or cgitask?) script responsible for copying the empty DCR into place - yes?
Who is that task run by?
Is the DCR copied into the correct place within the templatedata/category/data-type/data/ directory structure (have you verified that the DCR gets created in the right place)?
Does that script take care of setting the appropriate EAs on the DCR so that it is recognized as a DCR?
If the file is copied into the correct place - what are the permissions on it? Do they seem correct for your scenarios?
None of this, however, would seem to provide a reason for why one grouptask behaves differently than the other though.
