PDF Decoder Error

First I was having the error listed in this thread:

That was fixed (I think) by uninstalling and reinstalling the BlackIce EMF Printer Driver. Now I get:

Exception in Primitve {1E885AE1}! Reason = Problem in RIP. , Message = PDFDecoder: Error ripping page content PrintToImage: Warning - timeout waiting for printing job completing. PrintToImage: Warning, Process terminated.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I assume that you are trying to import a PDF file (you did not say that explicitly in your message).

How was it generated? Distiller? Another application?
With which version was it generated? 5? 6? Other?
Which version of Acrobat Reader is installed on the server? 5? 6?

We had a similar issue that was fixed by installing Acrobat Reader 6 on the server.

Sorry it's taken me so long to post an update.

Fixed the problem during multiple webexes with IW support. Three main issues appear to have beem factors. First, the service must run under a domain account if MB is accessing an Oracle DB on a separate machine (Don't ask me why). Second, Terminal Services was installed, but disabled. I enabled it and reinstalled the MetaFile printer driver. Third, the permissions on COM objects had to be loosened considerably. We ran dcomcnfg and changed the default access permissions and default launch permissions to 'Everyone - Allow'.

To clarify, the server has to be running on a domain account or it can't access any network resources (including the database).

Terminal Services are relevant because Black Ice supports two different versions of their print driver and the installer has to make an educated guess as to which one to install. When Terminal Services is installed but not running, occasionally we have run into instances in which the installer makes the wrong guess. Unfortunately the two types of installation are mutually exclusive.
