VFE and Buttons

Dogbert

Ok,

I have added a Service Mark button and it shows up. But, I've added another button that does not. I remember having to do "something" to make the button show up and I don't remember that "something" at all. I used to think I had to clear my cache, delete my cookies and delete the .ocx.

Well, I did all that and no button. What am I missing? All the code is in the files: visualformat.xml, locale409.xml, and ewebeditproevents.js.

Thanks

Anybody? Is this the right forum to post VFE questions?

If it is not showing up it would be a problem with your visualformat.xml config. Can you list the code between the <external> tags. You are referencing this command within the menu element too? For example:

<menu name="formatbar" ......>
...other buttons ....
<button command="commandnamehere"/>
</menu>

Dogbert

<menu name="specialcharsbar" newRow="true" showButtonsCaptions="true" wrap="true">
<caption localeRef="mnuSplChr"/>
<button command="cmdchr160"/>
<button command="cmdchr169"/>
<button command="cmdchr174"/>
<button command="jstm"/>
<button command="jssm"/>
<button command="thirdparty"/>
</menu>

<external>
<command name="jstm">
<caption localeRef="btnCapTM" />
<tooltiptext localeRef="cmdTM" />
</command>
<command name="jssm">
<caption localeRef="btnCapSM" />
<tooltiptext localeRef="cmdSM" />
</command>
<command name="thirdparty">
<caption localeRef="btnThirdParty" />
<tooltiptext localeRef="cmdThirdParty" />
</command>
</external>

<b>In my locale0409.xml</B>

<btnThirdParty>3P</btnThirdParty>

<cmdThirdParty>3rd Party Disclaimer</cmdThirdParty>

I do all this and nothing shows up for ThirdParty....

Change your command to:

<command name="thirdparty">
<caption>3rd party caption</caption>
<tooltiptext>Tool tip here</tooltiptext>
</command>

I think the problem is with your references to the locals. If they don't exist then I doubt your button will render. Just a guess. Try it out.

Dogbert

Nope that didn't do it. I can't believe how little information there is about TeamSite.....Thanks for trying.

Did you ever get this to work? Can you share how to do it as well as your SM button code? Thx
