Hi,
I had some troubles setting up asp.net virtualization when the IIS webserver is located on a separate server. It's now working so I thought it would be good to share with everyone.
Environment:
- TS 5.5.2 on Win2k
- IIS 6 on Win2k3 (DIFFERENT physical server), asp.net installed
Needed:
- a (global) domain user (to read files from the Teamsite server), refered to as "preview-user"
Actions on the Teamsite server:
1. Add the preview-user to the group ‘Teamsite Web Preview’
2. Add a line like this to iw.cfg to tell the teamsite-proxy where to preview:
[iwproxy_preconnect_remap]
#preview branch x over webserver
_regex=^/(iw-mount/default/main/mybranch/.*)=
http://webserver:81/$1To activate action 1 restart the iwserver, to activate 2 restart iwproxy.
Actions on the webserver:
1. Add the preview-user to the ‘Power User’-group (via Computer Management)
2. Create a new IIS website (‘Teamsite Preview’, port 81, home-dir ‘what-ever’, Anonymoss Access = Anonymous access = YES (Recursive), connect as <preview-user>, password)
3. In this website create a new virtual directory (‘iw-mount’, location \\<teamsite-server>\IWServer, use the authentication from the parent-website). To make live easier enable directory browsing.
4. In EACH staging- and workarea, create an asp.net-application for the application directory (e.g. the directory containing the 'bin'-directory). (properties ->click ‘Create’-button). Use the default-application pool. To enable preview for a certain edition do the same. DO NOT USE A MAPPED-DRIVE., use 'a shared directory on another computer'.
5. Lower the Security level for the computer. Follow these steps:
1. Open the ‘Microsoft .Net framework configuration’ in the ‘Administrative Tools’
2. Click on ‘Runtime Security Policy’
3. Click on ‘Adjust Zone Security’
4. Click on ‘Make changes to this computer’
5. Set the Zone Security for ‘Internet’ to Full’. (see image)
6. Click Next & Finish
(Maybe you can add the Teamsite server to the trusted-sites-list and only adjust this level)
IMPORTANT: somehow windows uses previously defined network-connections to a server/directory when remapping this directory. This can result in
connection under a wrong username. Check and remove these by running 'net use'.
That should do the trick. Hope it works for you too.
See you, Ronald
