Data migratilon from 5.0.2 to 5.5.2
umajava
Hi,
I am new to Teamsite. Just started learning. I am supposed to work on Data migration from Teamsite 5.0.2 to Teamsite 5.5.2. I would like to know the issues that are possible to occur while doing this job. For e.g configuration issues with Data Deploy / Open Deploy / Database configuration, etc... Any info would be helpful.
Thanks
Uma

What kind of training have you gone through?
How much documentation have you read? Specifically with regarding to upgrades to 5.5.2?
For OD/DD issues - you need to look at the differences between the version of those programs that are currently in use and the versions that will be used after your upgrade (the versions are *not* 5.0.2 and 5.5.2)
The primary concerns will be the length of time it takes to do the backing store conversion and changes necessary for customizations.
One could ask why you're upgrading to just 5.5.2 (scheduled to be end-of-life'd at the end of June 2005) rather than continuing with the upgrade to 6.1 ... though certainly getting to 5.5.2 is a reasonable milestone to get to to first before taking the 6.x plunge.

I would agree with Ghoti that you may want to consider going to TS6 directly.
There is a wealth of material up on the support site about migration considerations. There are also lots of threads on this forum. You might want to search for conversion, which is the label for the process to upgrade the backing store.
There are tradeoffs with regard to how you do the conversion. Do you need all history? Are you planning to use Multi-store?
As far as moving to TS6 directly, how many of your users are using WebDesk now? What is th retraining effort to move to ContentCenter Standard/Pro?
How many custom workflows, etc.
Once you've read the material, feel free to post more specific questions.
