scripting using FormAPI for metadatacapture form
kelvin
What is the proper way to validate element inside a metadata capture form? Is it even possible to do so using FormAPI? There is no script element inside metadatacapture6.0.dtd.

Hi Kelvin
Unfortunately formAPI isn't supported on the metadata capture form.
You are pretty much limited to using validation-regex and maxlengths and such to perform validation on the form.
It would also be possible to do further validation in a script in a workflow which checks the metadata and routes the workflow back to the author if the entries are incorrect -- not a nice solution I know.
Hope this helps.

In pre-TS6 you can use a cgi-callout on the MDC DCT to perform field and cross-field validation.
In 6.0/6.1 this is no longer a trivial issue (see
this thread
for more information).
My understanding is that 6.7 (due out, I believe, sometime in Q1 2005) is supposed to have a [finally] merged templating and metadata capture DCT - not entirely sure what this will mean for either templating or metadata capture DCTs moving forward (i.e. during upgrades) - but in the long run it should be better. For one thing we should be able to get FormAPI (or similar) for both interfaces.
