Navagating image in VFE

When inserting an image in VFE, you would need to
1. press insert image
2. locate image file
3. click preview

A problem occurs because you cannot preview the images when browsing(outside VFE, image browse will show the image)
AND If you do not want the image and select new image, you would need to close the window and
repeat the 3 steps above.

Is there a way to provide a preview screen for the images during the
selection screen? Similar to the 'browse' button under the VFE.

And is it possible to lock the selection path to the last folder
accessed to prevent the tedious task of clicking through the same path
repeatedly?
