CheckOutEx and the COM Ref Manual for WS 8.0

Hello Techies--
After I import a set of documents extracted from Documentum, I want to check out the last version of the document checked-in so that I can check in the next file (incremented version) in the set into WorkSite.

I turned to page #37 of the COM Ref. Manual and copied this line into the code I'm developing as a derivative from it:

lastDOCIn.CheckOutEx(filename,CheckOutOptions.nrDontReplaceExistingFile,dueDate,"from last doc stored-testing checkout",imHistEvent.imHistoryCheckout,"ConversionApp","location");

On a compile I get the following error:
Argument '2': cannot convert from 'iManage.WorkSite.CheckOutOptions' to 'iManage.WorkSite.imCheckOutOptions'

As always, all advice is greatly appreciated!

CheckoutEx is a method exposed by both the NRT and IMan (new in 8.0) Interfaces. If you're using the IMan Interfaces, you should use 'iManage.WorkSite.imCheckOutOptions' -- imDontReplaceExistingFile (instead of nrDontReplaceExistingFile which is part of the NRT Interfaces).

Just for the record, what's your "best practices" suggestion? About 10 minutes after I posted this I realized that was what was happening--so I started sifting through the non-ref portions of the manuals looking for some direction on which set of methods are the preferred set. I'm open to advice--let me know what you think on this.

Both methods are identical. It's just that the IMan Interfaces are exposed by the 8.0 Object Model (IManage.dll 8.0) thus it's only available in Worksite 8.0 -- but it also supports the older NRT Interfaces.

If you're in the WorkSite 8.0 platform, you should use the new interfaces as the new object model has been revamped to be more powerful. Check out the Worksite 8.0 Object Model Web Cast for more insight.

Out shop is in "middle-earth" right now. Half the apps in 7.5 and the other in 8.0, although new development will likely only be implemented on 8.0 platforms. Thanks so much for your advice. I'll check out the webcast.
