checkbox validation in datacapture.cfg

Hi,
if a particular item in the dct has 2 checkboxes and if one checkbox is checked and the other is not checked , how would we code in the datacapture.cfg's <script>tag to popup an alert box to say "please select the other checkbox , too". in our datacapture.cfg , we are including a .js file to validate required fields, etc....when we save the dct.(manipulating "on Save" of the dct").
how could i code in the javascript (.js) file to validate one checkbox based on the value of the other?

According to FormAPI documentation ,
To get the label of the selected option of the /d select item:
item = IWDatacapture.getItem("/d");
label = item.getOptions()[item.getValue()].text; - this is supposed to give me the value of the checked checkbox.
but it gives me the values of the checkboxes that are not checked also..........
