Does anyone know how to give a user rights to a branch via Perl? (TS5.5.2 Windows2000)
I am using Win32::Net to create Local Groups and Add Members, but I can't figure out how to make this apply to a branch.

I think you need to elaborate on your question a bit more. Access to an area in TeamSite is dependent upon either being the owner of that area, or part of its group for sharing. So, if you want to give the user access programatically, you need to make him a member of the appopriate group. Are you using local groups, or domain groups? Do you have sufficient privileges to manipulate a user's group memberships?

Thanks for your reply. This is local (on the TS Server).
My perl script:
1. Win32::API::Net::LocalGroupAdd adds the name "branch1"
2. Win32::API::Net::LocalGroupAddMembers adds the name "TSAdmin"
(I want TSAdmin to be the admin user of the branch)
3. I then do a iwmkbr named branch1
4. then iwmkwa
5. then i want to add members (contributors/approvers) to the group specific to that branch

Well, when you create the branch/workarea, are you listing branch1 as the group for sharing? If so, then you've already got what you need. Just add the users to "branch1" (you'll probably need to do an iwreset for the changes to be noticed by TeamSite)

If, on the other hand, you want to add users/groups who can access the workarea via the IFS, without adding them to the group for sharing, then take a look at the perldocs for Win32::FileSecurity

You already seem to know how to add members to groups, assuming you associated that group to the branch / workarea when you created it - you shouldn't have a problem adding more users to the same group. You might have to do an 'iwreset' afterwards in order for it to take effect, but you seem to have all the parts already.

Or am I missing something here?

Is the [groupid] for iwmkbr the same as Group for Sharing on the GUI?

Yes, it is. If you don't give a group (and it is optional, as indicated by the '[' ']' around it) then it's a private branch/workarea.
