Production Issue

Greetings,

Our TeamSite installation suddenly has started to malfunction. Basically, TeamSite is acting as if there is no 'templating.cfg' file, which there is.

If you attempt to generate a new data record or even view an existing page, it will not generate the preview. When you create the new data record, it generates the DCR fine, but it simply will not generate the preview.

We have backed out all changes to Templating.cfg and subsequently broke it down to a simple category, but that does not appear to be the problem.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

explain this again, you changed templalting.cfg & it started happening ? You backed the changes out & it works again ?

Post the changes, also try to validate the xml in templating.cfg. Are there any special characters in the changes ? Use an &
where you should not have ?

If it were an invalide templating.cfg, I doubt that users would be able to create new DCRs. It sounds like the problem is limited to preview (and probably generate as well, though that wasn't explicitly stated)

FYI I put an ampersand in the category name then ran validate:

% iwxml_validate.ipl templatingandy.cfg
ERROR: templatingandy.cfg not well-formed at line 6, column 29

if it returns nothing, the XML is good

Checked the error_log and we are seeing this :

I am currently bouncing the box, which is SOLARIS 9.

It is not a problem with Templating.

There is either a Daemon problem or something else. Anyone here have any experience with this error. If you need more info, you probably cannot help.

Then I doubt you'll get much help. The error that's showing in the logs, Premature end of script headers, is a very "generic" error. It just means that some CGI process died unexpectedly. And in this case, we don't even know which one, as iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi is used as a wrapper for most CGIs written in Perl on TeamSite.

You may want to see if you can hand compile the a DCR/TPL to see if that is failing

You may wish to open a case with IWOV support. They may be able to walk you through some diagnostics in a more real-time manner.
