External editor (Visual Format)

Is it possible to have any other values for the "external editor", other than VisualFormat?

I am interested in trying out tinyMCE (http://tinymce.moxiecode.com), it is not ActiveX, therefore it will work on Mozilla too.

Um, short answer is no -- not in a supported way. That would be a huge code hack involving many files.

It's not quite correct. You can't have it as an external editor attribute, but could always implement this as a CGI callout, as I did with my own RTF editor

So for the relatively mentally challenged of us, you're just opening your custom editor servlet (or whatever) in another window and then passing the content back to the TeamSite form when completed. Right?

I should check it. And also, there is Akmin Editlet as well. supposedly, it works on FireFox.

mmm, given that we are unable for the moment to install Visual Format (of TS 5.5.2, but I got the mesg that 6.5 is no different) on Windows 2003 Terminal Server, that callout idea is interesting.

I hope that attachment resurfaces.

IE 5.5 or later has a built in WYSIWYG HTML editing feature. Depending on your environment this might be an easy solution.

it's not that advanced (even though I have implemented that as well). new DHTML features in both Mozilla and IE 6 are far more attractive

FYI, TS 6.7.1 includes tinymce as an alternative editor and can be turned on just like Visual Format using the external-editor="tinymce" attribute for textareas. As the other posts mention, you can probably implement it as a callout if you deem that a better fit for your solution.

Yes this is an older post but I'm looking to implement TinyMCE completely outside of TS since TinyMCE within TeamSite does not allow me to do all the customization that I require.

Oh, before I get into this Here are the deets:
* Windows 2K3 Server
* TS 6.7.1

I used the script that Valentine was so kind to post and dropped it into my "c:\iw-home\httpd\iw-bin" directory. The only problem I have is having the cgi file find the tiny_mce.js file. The external windows pops up and I have a textbox with a submit button but there are

I even did a view source on that window and I have my javascript pointing to the correct directory. I've tried changing the source to the following directories and have made sure that the tiny_mce.js file (and all the related subdirectories) are located at the identified locations:

C:\iw-home\httpd\iw-bin\tiny_mce.js
C:\iw-home\httpd\iw\tinymce\jscripts\tiny_mce\tiny_mce.js
Y:\default\main\company\Internet\WORKAREA\Internet\templatedata\hr\press_release\tiny_mce.js

I get the same result each time. Am I missing something?
