Hi,

I am not sure why this does not work. Should this give me a drop down list of the inline command names?

It should give you a drop-down list of whatever the inline commands generate as option statements, assuming that the inline commands correctly format the results within substitution elements.

If that's not working - you need to provide the inline scripts.
If that is working, but not what you wanted - you need to provide a better explanation of what you are trying to do.

I could be mistaken here, but is it valid to put XML files in your inline statements? I always thought it had to be a command that would be executed. Could be wrong.

Yes it is valid as the xml files in the inline command does the substitution but we must make sure that the substitution occurs correctly as mentioned in ghoti's reply. But if it can't substitute as required , we might need to use scripts.

Actually, it does have to be a command. But that's what yours is:

/bin/cat .....

Took me a couple of readings to see that you did have a command running. I'm assuming the two xml files start with a <substitution> tag (and correspondingly end with its closing tag), is that correct? If so, then you should be good to go...are you experiencing a specific issue?

Can you post your person-name-content.xml and uri.xml files ?

I think the problem is because the select takes <option> subelements.....- that's why it doesn't work

Correct, you cannot have and <item> inside <select>. See the DTD for further details.
Also, aren't you missing the XML declaration ? :

Emm....why would I need that? When it gets substituted, the XML declaration is already defined in the main dct,. Am I right?

You don't need it. For some reason, I have always used it and never questioned myself if its really required.
