opening up a DCR using clt

cheeku

Can I open up a DCR (in the internet explorer) using some command? I want to simulate the opening of a DCR(when the user clicks on it ) using a command.

Try to provide a more verbose / detailed explanation of what you're trying to do.
As it stands, it sounds like you're trying to initiate an Edit DCR session from the command line of a *client* machine - which, though it may be possible using the CSSDK, probably isn't trivial and may not be what you're looking for.

I'm not completely clear on what you're asking here.

If you're trying to come up with a custom URL that accomplishes the same thing as the user clicking on the filename link in the UI, then I suggest you look at the CCI section of your manual -- specifically, the 'view' command.

Beyond that, if you truely mean a CLT, then we'd need to know what you want this CLT to do with the DCR. A DCR is just a file, so
cat /iwmnt/default/main/blah/bla/WORKAREA/blah/templatedata/category/type/data/file.dcr (Unix)
or
type y:\default\main\blah\bla\WORKAREA\blah\templatedata\category\type\data\file.dcr (Windows)
would give you access to the raw data.

This is what I want to do.:

User initiates a workflow. He clicks on the 'Run Job' button. The first task which is an external script is called. This scripts opens up the saved DCRs from different workareas(in different windows). On opening up of DCRs the formAPI should be called as it is called if I click on the DCR.

We call some javascripts(form APIs) on edit of DCR. Now we need to edit DCR from back end say we have to update DCR xml from beck end.

Now if we do this from back end then FormAPIS won't be called. I want a same functionality as edit DCR from back end.

We need to Update some DCR as part of externernal tasks of workflow. Can this be done?

Dwayne

I think I understand what you're trying to do. However, it is going to be extremely difficult. Remeber that FormAPI code is executed on the client machine, not the server. So if you want a CLT that's going to do the same thing that the browser does when editing a DCR, you're bascially going to have to have a mini web browser within that CLT, complete with JavaScript interpreter It's also going to need to be aware of FRAMESETs.

I think that you need to rethink your strategy. This doesn't sound feasible.

yes i think this will be too tedious a task.

is it possible to access a workarea using a hyperlink. for eg. can i give a link to the user(which will appear in the mail) in the following format:
http://servername/......./workarea

Migrateduser

Absolutely... the URL takes the following format.

http://server/iw-cc/command/iw.ccpro.launch_edit_form?
(QUERY_STRING):
vpath={ vpath to file } &
done%5fpage=/iw-cc/base/util/refresh%5fdone%5ftarget%5fand%5fclose%5fwindow.jsp%3fdone%5ftarget%3dgetFileListFrame%2528%2529 &
done%5ftarget=fs%5flist&full%5fredirect=true

I may be mistaken, but wouldn't this be a URL to edit a file in CCPro? That's not what cheeku asked for, but rather a URL to show the workarea.

I don' tknow if there is such a URL or not, but, if there is one, I would think that it would be version and UI specific. That is, at TS 5.5.2 URL would probably be different than a TS 6.x CCStd URL, which would in turn be different from a TS 6.x CCPro URL.
