Dyanamic change name in available_template.cfg

How Can I change dynamically the name of the workflow in available_template.cfg based on branch.
<template_file name='Deploying to **** branch' path='path to wft file'>

When users select new job they are able to see Deploying to **** branch. Where **** is the branch name. How can I achieve that.

I am not sure if you can dynamically change the name of the workflow..
You might want to try:


<template_file name="Name for branch 1" path="path to wft">
.....
  <branch_list>
Allow this workflow ONLY in branch 1
  </branch_list>
</template_file>
<template_file name="Name for branch 2" path="path to wft">
.....
  <branch_list>
Allow this workflow ONLY in branch 2
  </branch_list>
</template_file>
.....

I assume you are trying to have a different name for the workflow depending on which branch you are invoking it from.

AFAIK - there is no way to dynamically, on-the-fly, adjust the name of the workflow as it will appear in the list of available workflows.

If the same workflow is used on all those branches - just genericize the name ("Branch Deployment Workflow").

If you want a different named workflow to exist for each specific branch - see iwovGraduate's post.

If you want to change the *description* of the workflow *after* it's been instantiated - you can use an externaltask near the beginning of your workflow and have it use TeamSite::WFworkflow: Smiley Frustrated

etDescription(...); to adjust the descriptive text that is associated with the specific job in the To Do List (not quite the same thing, but similar in some respects)
