Parameter on a inline call
mangetak
Hi,
I´m trying to make an inline call from a DCT to a perl script wich requires the name of the DCR as a paramenter (NAME_DCR). The item looks like:
<item name="section">
<label> Sección </label>
<database data-type="VARCHAR(60)" />
<select size="10" required="t">
<inline command="/opt/iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl.exe /opt/iw-home/custom/scripts/get_sections.ipl NAME-DCR"
</select>
</item>
(NOTE: NAME_DCR is supposed to be replaced by the DCR name)
I know I can get current DCR name with formAPI but don´t know how to build the command call to place the parameter inside the item.
Is is possible to do this?
Thanks in advance

inline calls are made during the construction of the DCT.
There is no way for your inline call to know anything about a DCR name, it's a couple steps before the creation of a DCR.
If you need to action something with the DCR name, then you need to look at a CGI callout or most likely FormAPI.
Both of these let you play with the DCR, inlines deal with the DCT, there's a big difference.
How bout trying to explain what you are trying to achieve... you might get more useful feedback.

when you say "during the construction of the DCT", you mean the construction of some in-memory object representing the DCT, right, not the datacapture.cfg itself?
i'm stumped on this one; i understand that if a new Form Entry is being created, the DCT of course could not know the DCR name; it hasn't been named yet at the time that the DCR is parsed. but any time an *existing* DCR is edited or opened, the DCR name is a known quantity. so it's completely impossible to get the current DCR name from within the DCT in any way?
what portion of interwoven is actually responsible for parsing the DCT and running the callouts?

Hi,
You can have some indirect way to achieve this functionality.
Define one hidden field in datacapture.cfg and <b>onSaveNameSpecified()</b> event populate that hidden field with dcr name.
on callout pass this.

Hi Saumil
The post is regarding an inline call - as Johnny explained above and ghoti has explained in this
post
the associated DCR (if any) is not available at the time of running an inline.
So even if you had the DCR name saved in a DCR (still not clear on what this would acheive) you wouldn't know which DCR was being edited anyway so you couldn't go and find your hidden field.
Cheers
