TS 6.1 and NAV 9

Anyone else out there happen to be running TS 6.1 and also use Norton 9 on Win2k sp4? Apparently they do not play well together. I am not having any luck with IW support at present, other then them telling me to uninstall NAV 9, so I was wondering if anyone out there in DevNet land has run into this issue and has a work around or fix, other then uninstall obviously, like maybe it is just the realtime scan component, or the live update portion, adding a command line switch, whatever.

I've disabled all the services and rebooted and it is still impossible to submit a file to staging without the machine locking up.

I ran into this and unfortunately there is no known fix that I know of other than uninstalling Symantec.

As far as I can tell engineering is working on getting a fix for this. You might want to contact support to find out more.

The problem is with Nav 9 about how it handles cgi and not TeamSite. So Opena Ticket with Symantec

Good news is now I know what my issue is with doing a submit, bad news is it does not appear like anyone has a fix.... I'm running Windows 2000 SP4 and TeamSite 6.5 and I have the same issue with NAV 9.02... anyone have any work arounds other than uninstalling yet.

If you need this fix, you should work with Symantec; it's my understanding that the only resolution needs to come from them.

Did you ever have 9 installed on the server? It sounds odd, but what I had to do was to un-install TS, and 9, and then re-install
TeamSite and then add 8 after.

It appears to be working for me. I have another issue not with deletion of files but it is a different issue. The server does not hang on a submit like it did when 9 was installed.

I am a little surprised by this suggestion. Wouldn't it be in Interwoven's best interest to also be involved in locating a solution to this? It is not like NAV is not a very commonly used app.

The root cause of this problem is that Nav 9 conflicts with perl. Interwoven has a test case without any Interwoven codes which can demonstrate this problem. Please contact with Interwoven Support for this test case if you want to talk to Symantec.

Here is the best workaround we can get from Symantec:

Computers running this application need to "Not" have the Email Tools installed, specifically the "Pop3" plugin. To verify if this plugin is installed please open up corporate edition and choose Configure , If you see Internet Email Auto-Protect this is the option which must be uninstalled. You will need to uninstall, reboot and then choose to do a custom installation. Please see steps below.

You need to install SAV 9.0 client without installing any of the email plugins.
Solution:
You must perform the installation with msi commands to remove the EmailTools. In order to do this through the Symantec System Center using the "nt client install" you need to edit the vpremote.dat located in \Program Files\Symantec\Symantec System Center\Deployment\NT Remote Client Installation. Open the vpremote.dat with notepad. Change the text in the file so that it reads exactly as follows and save the file.

Perform the "nt client install" through the Symantec System Center. Symantec Antivirus Client will be installed with out any of the email plugins.

If Symantec Antivirus 9 is already installed and you would like to remove the email tools use the following msi command.
msiexec/i "Symantec AntiVirus.msi" REMOVE=EMailTools REBOOT=Force /qn

You may use the REMOVE=Feature command to remove specific plugins. For more information on custom msi commands please see the

Involving this known issue with TS 6.1 and NAV9, has anyone experimented with TS 6.5 SP2 and NAV9? I would like to know if this issue has been resolved in recent TS releases.
