MediaBin Web Serivces

Hello-

I am having trouble connecting to the MediaBin Web Service needed to run the MAC client. I have it installed, and have set everything up on the server end.

When I navigate to http://{domain}/mediabinwebserivce - I receive a basic text error "Cannot connect to the configuration database."

Can anyone shed some light on this subject?

Can you connect with the Macintosh client?

The URL in the Mac client should be http://{host}/mediabinwebservice/MediaBinServer.asmx

I was attempting to connect to the MAC client yesterday, and when I could not connect to it, I tried to see if I could access the web serivce just by going to the direct page to get a response from the web service. That is when I noticed that I was not getting a response from the web service, and I couldnt figure out why I couldnt get the response.

The MediaBin Web Service doesn't use a database so I'm not sure why you would be getting such an error message. Is the MediaBin Web Service the only web app returning that error? Do you have any other web apps installed that may require a database...such as a SharePoint portal?

Yes, I currently have sharepoint services running on the same server. After sometime on the phone we figured out that I had forgot to exclude the mediabinwebservices path in my Sharepoint services admin section.

To anyone using sharepoint on the same server as mediabin, be sure to exclude the mediaBin, deploymentAgent, and mediabinwebservices virtual directories.
