TeamSite branch licensing
NathansDIS
Does anyone know how the TeamSite branch limit licensing works? How do you count the number of branches in your store? Do you count only the branches directly under main or do you have to count all sub-branches?
For example, would the following be 3 branches or 5 according to the new licensing scheme?
main
-> Branch1
-> Branch2
-> SubBranchA
-> SubBranchB
-> Branch3
Thanks for any and all input on this case. I believe our contract does not currently have this restriction, but I am curious how this works going forward.

I think you have to discuss this with Support and/or your Interwoven Sales contact.
Given that sub-branches are basically branches that just happen to live underneath another branch - I'd think you were looking at 5 branches in your setup unless you have no workareas on branch2 itself - in which case I think you might be able to classify it as 4 branches.

I never got a straight answer to this question, even when I worked for Interwoven.
My guess is that somebody somewhere along the line decided that it made sense to license by branch, but I don't think they ever really thought through the inplementation of that licensing scheme. So it probably depends on who you talk to, and on what day.
I know I've heard people say that sub-branches didn't "count" against the license, but that might also have been a dodge to get around the issue, because the client didn't know up front that there
was
a limit on the number of branches.
