inline element in metadata DCT
S_Hoaen
Is there a way to make <inline> calls work within a metadata datacapture.cfg?
I am trying to populate a field in my metadata DCT with a perl script. It works in a regular templating DCT but not in my metadata DCT.
In my metadata DCT I have...
<item name="Creator">
<database data-type="VARCHAR(50)" />
<inline command="c:/iw-home/iw-erl/bin/iwperl.exe c:/iw-home/local/bin/iw_user.ipl" />
</item>
...and iw_user.ipl has......
#!c:/iiw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl
my $user = $ENV{IW_USER};
print <<EOF;
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<substitution><text required="t" maxlength="50"><default>$user</default></text></substitution>
EOF
If this is not possible can anyone suggest another way of populating this field with the name of the current user?
Thanks

If you're using TeamSite 6.x or you have an earlier version of TeamSite with MetaTagger installed - the metadata capture form will support inlines.
If you're using a version of TeamSite prior to TS6 and you are *not* using MetaTagger - then I do not believe that inlines will be supported.
In those cases - the only way to pre-fill certain fields for a given asset is to have already explicitly set those fields (via something like iwextattr) before rendering the datacapture.cfg file for the specific file - e.g.:
iwextattr -s TeamSite/Metadata/some_field_name="some value" /vpath/to/some/file
Assuming your IWHOME/local/config/datacapture.cfg has a field called 'some_field_name' - when it is finally rendered it will show up as having some_value already set for it.
Other than that, I don't think you have much in the way of options.
