RSS in TeamSite?
ricmac
Hi,
Does anyone know if there's an RSS feed generation add-on for TeamSite? On our site, we want to create an RSS feed for media releases. The media releases webpage itself is powered by TeamSite.
If there is no RSS add-on for TeamSite, if anyone has some recommendations or pointers it'd be much appreciated.
Regards,
Richard

Hi Richard
I'm not aware of any add-on for RSS feed generation, however you should be able to generate the RSS xml files from your DCRs in TeamSite. You will have to decide which format of RSS you are going to use and then come up with a mapping between your DCR and the XML of the RSS.
If your channel is coming from a single DCT then it should be fairly straightforward to come up with a way of creating your feed. Perhaps you could trigger a script from your workflow which adds the content to the RSS xml file... .
I assume you would then be sending this file off to your RSS server - a bit of OpenDeploy then.
I hope this is of some help. Please feel free to come back back with specifics; this is an interesting area which hasn't been discussed much in the forums yet.
Cheers

As stated above, it should be pretty straight-forward to create a presentation template for handling the creation of RSS/Atom feeds. Contrary to what is assumed above, you can then just deploy these to your web server - although you may want to consider embedding the RSS meta information into the actual HTML equivalent using the following in the title of your document:
<link id="RSSLink" title="RSS" type="application/rss+xml" rel="alternate" href="my_rss.rss"></link>
This will enable RSS-enabled web browsers and feed readers to auto-determine the RSS feed for your page.
