Hi All-

Solaris 8
Data Deploy 5.6
TeamSIte 6.1

We are deleting DCR's from the database on the SYbcDestroy event. We are putting the path value into our parent table, and when the DCR is deleted we are grabbing the path and creating a custom SQL statement ala Perl: Smiley Very Happy

However, when I try and do a:

delete from JOB where PATH=templatedata/IRC/job/iwDCR0_9837

it doesn't execute, sometime I get identifier to long errors (from the command line)

When the script runs from the trigger in TeamSIte, it seems to execute properly (no $DBI::errstr message), but the record it not being removed from the DB.

Any ideas here?

Probably a dumb question, but are you really using:

delete from JOB where PATH=templatedata/IRC/job/iwDCR0_9837

If so, shouldn't it be

delete from JOB where PATH='templatedata/IRC/job/iwDCR0_9837'

(wrapping the PATH value in quote marks)

I figured that you just didn't put them in your post, but it never hurts to check ...

I figured as much, but I didn't want to overlook the obvious.

What I usually to to try to debug perl database problems is to configure the script to print to a log file every SQL statement it's trying to execute. I can then connect to the database as the user that the DBI code is using, and try to hand-execute those statements, one by one, looking to see if I'm getting the expected results.

I am getting HASH references when I do my initial DB connections and an ARRAY ref into my results, so I ASSUME SOMETHING is executing. No sure how to get more granular than that.

Don't you want:

"DELETE from JOB where PATH='$path'";

Not sure if that is a/the/only problem.

It doesn't look like you're checking the return codes from prepare and execute. Perhaps something like this:

if(!(my $rc = $sth->execute())) {
    writelog("Error from execute: " . $sth->errstr);
    die "Error deleting DCR\n";
} else {
    writelog("Sucessfully deleted $rc DCRs");
}

I was wondering about that as well, but I thought that perhaps Oracle allowed for double quotes as well as single quotes.
