Deploy all files ignore Subdirectories
MichaelS
Hi,
I have a directory that I want to deploy with OpenDeploy 6.0. Let's say the directory name is "somedir". Inside of this directory I have lots of subfolders and some files. I need an open deploy configuration that will deploy only the files under "somedir" and it will ignore all subfolders and their contents. I was examining all the OpenDeploy filters but could not find an easy solution for this one. Does anyone know what is the easy way to do that?

File list deployment should be an easy approach so you write an script create the file which contains the list of the file in somedir directory and then deploy which will solve your problem but might be somebody else has good approach, wait for other feedback.

Depending on you situation, you might be able to use excludePath in the source filters to specify the directories that you do not want to deploy in the folder. We didn't go this route due to the need to retool the deploy everytime a new folder is added in TeamSite. Hope this helps.

If all your files got certain file extensions and all the folders do not have "." in the folder name, you can just use includePattern to include only the files with extensions.

This scheme would limit your TS user's selection (probably unbeknownst to them, with no way to enforce it) of future folder and file names. If you deploy from staging or an edition, perhaps you could use private files in TeamSite to keep the folders you don't want to deploy from finding their way into the staging and edition areas.

What I am looking for is a way for a user to select a file(s). Click on Submit and in one fo the INFO fields type Now, then a file list deploy would immeditately kick in to push the files selected live.

It sounds like you want to create a workflow that gets launched on submit that calls a filelist deployment. We have a workflow that branches on a button choice, one of which is 'emergency deploy' that calls the filelist deploy and pushed the file out live immediately. Hope this helps.
