Hi All,
I am having problems trying to send out emails from my workflow. The workflow completes but no email is sent. Telnet reports good connection, I am on TS5.5.2 over Windows2000. Thanks in advance!
iw.cfg.......
[iwsend_mail]
maildomain=sha.state.md.us
mailserver=****.xx.xx.****
use_mapping_file=true
debug_output=d:/iw-home/local/config/wft/email.log
email_mapping_file=d:/iw-home/local/config/wft/email_map.cfg
Mapping File.....
DOMAIN\testuser: testuser
WFT....
$varEmail = "$iwhome/iw-perl/bin/iwperl $iwhome/bin/iwsend_mail.ipl -t 'testuser@mydomain.com' ";
<!-- ============================================================ -->

lock="f">
<areavpath v='__INSERT__($projectWorkArea);'/>
<successors>
<successorset description="Notification of New Project">
<succ v="End"/>
</successorset>
</successors>
__INSERT__("<command v='$varEmail'/>");

The most obvious thing that stands out is that you have the email address delimited by single quotes and your email command as well, so it should look like this when it outputs:
<command v='IWHOME/iw-perl/bin/iwperl IWHOME/bin/iwsend_mail.ipl -t 'testuser@mydomain.com''/>
Try changing this line:
$varEmail = "$iwhome/iw-perl/bin/iwperl $iwhome/bin/iwsend_mail.ipl -t 'testuser@mydomain.com' ";
to this:
$varEmail = qq|$iwhome/iw-perl/bin/iwperl $iwhome/bin/iwsend_mail.ipl -t "testuser@mydomain.com"|;
nipper
In perl you need to escape the @ in the email.

No luck. I do not seem to be getting out at all...
The complete command line looks like this:
<command v='d:/iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl d:/iw-home/bin/iwsend_mail.ipl -t "etest@mydomain.us"'/>

Is
etest@mydomain.us
a real email address? or just what you're putting in these forum posts?
Is the script running and not calling back to the workflow ("hung task")? or does the task transition to the next task but no email seems to get sent?

Hi Fish,
The domain posted is fictional (only for devnet). The actual email is working as I have tested it with another email client. As far as the workflow goes, it transistions properly all the way to the End task. Telenet reports ok, and I set up the IW.cfg per instructions. When I look at the SMPT server, there is nothing. Any Ideas?

Did you take a look at the file
d:/iw-home/local/config/wft/email.log
? That's where the debug info from the mail handler should be going. It should at least tell you if everything is getting formatted correctly.
Can you get access to the mail server's logs? Maybe there's something there. Perhaps the mail is running afoul of some SPAM filters that have been put in place, so the mail is being sent to the server, and the server is proptly dropping it.

As a follow-up from Dwayne's post - it's the "real" mail logs on the TeamSite server (not the stuff under IWHOME) and/or the logs on the SMTP server that need to be looked at.
It used to be that one could use a script run by **** when explcitly set From: and To: headers and sent mail to the SMTP server just fine.
More and more IT departments have closed this "hole" and the SMTP server will actually reject email where the actual sender and the reported sender do not match and/or are not registered as valid email addresses on their system. In cases such as this, as far as Mail::Mailer is concerned - it did it's part and handed off the email to the SMTP server - so there's no error reported and your script continues and performs the callback - but the email is not actually sent.
There are ways of debugging this (it's a bit easier on TS6 with the later version of Mail::Mailer) but basically I suggest you get your IT / Email specialists involved so that they can help track down what's happening on your site.
