Virtualization Problems

amyboyte

We have an issue with TeamSite virtualizations that I was wondering if anyone else had come across.

We have two different external sites that use the same structure for include files. We have the virtualization doing a redirect for the include folder. This works fine for the first site, but when you click on a page in the second site, it is using the first sites includes.

Going to need a lot more information here.

What OS ? What rev of TS ? Are these server side includes ? How are they redirected ?
If proxy, then post your proxy section of the iw.cfg and the offending branch structure

We can recreate in TS 5.0-6.1.

OS - Win2000

Architecture something like this:
BRANCHONE
|--Workarea
|-----includes (example file in here is includes/css/default.css)
|--SUBBRANCH1
|-----Workarea
|--------Here are files that use the includes in BRANCHONE

BRANCHTWO (same level as BRANCHONE)
|--Workarea
|-----includes (example file in here is includes/css/default.css)
|--SUBBRANCH2
|-----Workarea
|--------Here are files that use the includes in BRANCHTWO

Problem lines in iw.cfg - 2nd regex can't work because first regex hits first:
[iwproxy_plugin_remap]
_regex=(.*)/includes/(.*)=/default/main/BRANCHONE/WORKAREA/Workarea/includes/css/$2
_regex=(.*)/includes/(.*)=/default/main/BRANCHTWO/WORKAREA/Workarea/includes/css/$2

Well, first of all, I rarely recommend redirecting to a workarea in another branch. I usually prefer to redirect to the STAGING area of that branch - lets you "play" with the include files in the workarea without breaking other people's work in progress.

With that out of the way ...

The solution is quite simple. Just make your regex's more specific:

_regex=(.*)/BRANCHONE/[^/]+/(STAGING|((WORKAREA|EDITION)/[^/]+))/includes/(.*)=/default/main/BRANCHONE/WORKAREA/Workarea/includes/css/$5
_regex=(.*)/BRANCHTWO/[^/]+/(STAGING|((WORKAREA|EDITION)/[^/]+))/includes/(.*)=/default/main/BRANCHTWO/WORKAREA/Workarea/includes/css/$5

These basically say:
If you're in a WORKAREA, EDITION or STAGING area of a branch one level below BRANCHONE (or TWO) and the request is for a file in the includes folder at the top level of said area, then redirect to the includes/css directory of the Workarea WORKAREA of BRANCHONE (or TWO).

(follow up)
Or, if you want one regex for both:

_regex=(.*)/(BRANCHONE|BRANCHTWO)/[^/]+/(STAGING|((WORKAREA|EDITION)/[^/]+))/includes/(.*)=$1/$2/WORKAREA/Workarea/includes/css/$6

Current project: TS 5.5.2/6.1 W2K

How about the following?

[iwproxy_plugin_remap]
_regex=(BRANCHONE/WORKAREA/.*)/includes/(.*)=/default/main/BRANCHONE/WORKAREA/Workarea/includes/css/$2
_regex=(BRANCHTWO/WORKAREA/.*)/includes/(.*)=/default/main/BRANCHTWO/WORKAREA/Workarea/includes/css/$2
