custom perl modules after TeamSite 6.1 upgrade

Hello-

Does anyone have any experience with installing custom perl modules used in workflows after upgrading to TeamSite 6.1 on Windows 2000? We are using a module called XML: Smiley Frustrated

imple on TeamSite 5.5.2 in our press release workflow. I believe this module came from CPAN and we need to have it running after upgrading to TeamSite 6.1. Is there a specific version that I need to use to be compatible with 'iw-perl?' Any insight into how and where to install this module after an inplace upgrade to TeamSite 6.1 would be much appreciated.

................ This means that a customer will not have to re-install their own custom modules on TeamSite upgrades any longer, because the TeamSite install software *never* places anything in <iw-home>/iw-perl/site/lib.
This directory is reserved for customers.

In other words, custom perl modules should go under <iw-home>/iw-perl/site/lib

When we did a test upgrade, i moved my perl modules to that location and it seems to be working till now.

XML:imple is supplied by Interwoven with TS6.1 - so you don't need to do a custom installation of it any more:

Try running the following command to find the location of this module on your system: iwperl -MXML:imple -le 'print $INC{"XML/Simple.pm"};'You should see the result as being in ..../vendor/lib/....

If you use cpan to install modules from CPAN - they will, I believe by default, be installed .../site/lib/... which Interwoven has promissed not to mess around with through patches, service packs, or upgrades.

Also, be wary of changes to existing modules. I upgraded to 6.1 over the weekend and today I discovered that the URI::Escape module changed a bit. I used to it escape spaces in file paths and now it escapes slashes now too.

So in my case, a function that I wrote to move files in my tpl failed because the slashes were "%2F" instead of "/".

Make sure you test your scripts that use more then just the base TeamSite libraries.

Thx everyone for the info. fish, your commandline failed on my server, but I did find that the simple.pm file was in the 6.1 iw-perl directory.

Hmm - I wonder why the command didn't work for you - it should have worked - though I must confess I did it on Solaris - perhaps you have to change the index entry from "XML/Simple.pm" to "XML\\Simple.pm" ?

I have a XMLin data structure

my $jobSpecRef = XMLin($dcrstring,keeproot => 1, forcearray => 1);

Now I want to manipulate with this plain old Perl. I kow I have an array reference, but I can't even print it out for the life of me. I have tried everything. Guidance would be well received.

For a reference to an array - e.g. $listref - you can access it as an array by prefacing the variable with an '@' - i.e.:

foreach (@$listref) { ... }

You can also access the elements of the array using the arrow operator - i.e.

$listref->[0] == $$listref[0]

I just want to be able to loop through this a check conditions. When I have the array reference I can grab numbered elements fine e.g.

$jobSpecRef->{story}->[0]->{meta}->[0]->url->[0]

I can get that, but I need a way to be able to traverse the elements. Not sure what I am doing wrong here ...
