problem in BEGIN block

Hi,
I am inserting a user defined perl module in the workflow perl scripts.
This is how I do it:

$iwhome = TeamSite::Config::iwgethome();

BEGIN{push @INC, '$iwhome\\local\custom';}
use modules::HRDC_DCR_Utilities;
use modules::HRDC_Utilities;

The BEGIN block does not work since it is evaluated at compile time.
I can change it to
BEGIN{push @INC, 'd:\\iw-home\\local\custom';}
but I don't want to do this since this script will depend on the D drive for the path, and not the TeamSite's home ($iwhome) directory.

Any idea how this could be solved.

Try moving your $iwhome = TeamSite::Config::iwgethome(); inside the BEGIN block and use double quotes (") instead of single quotes ('):

You could also do something like this:use TeamSite::Config;
use lib TeamSite::Config::iwgethome() . '\local\custom';
use modules::HRDC_DCR_Utilities;
use modules::HRDC_Utilities;
my $iwhome = TeamSite::Config::iwgethome();This will evaluate the TeamSite::Config::iwgethome() at the same time inserting IWHOME\local\custom at the front of the @INC list - no BEGIN block necessary.

Thanks for your help. It works fine with the way ghoti suggested.
Just one question, I still don't understand how this works with the use lib function.
Could you explain to me whats going on here.

use lib is essentially the same thing as unshift @INC - i.e. putting the path specified at the begging of the @INC list so that subsequent references to modules will also search the new path.

In your case - the 'use modules::HRDC_DCR_Utilities;' indicates that somewhere along the @INC list of paths there is a subdirectory named 'modules' and in that subdirectory there is a file called 'HRDC_DCR_Utitlities.pm' - so as long as the path to the directory that contains 'modules' is put into the @INC list (either via push, unshift, or - as I showed - 'use lib') then the inclusion of the custom module will work.
