customizing workflow screen

Has anyone tried to customize the workflow screen? At the buttom of a workflow screen it says, "To content editor" "To content author" "To control librarian" etc, I'm wanting to also put these commands at the very top, one line under the save, action, and close buttons. I've just tried copying the following code in the task_details.jsp to another location and it doesn't work. Any suggestions???

Basic Response - please indicate what version of TeamSite you are using (including SP and patches) and the platform/OS of the TeamSite server -- many answers (especially to questions like this one) vary depending on the version being used.

Basic Suggestion - don't muck with product files that aren't intended for site customizations, unless you're willing to throw away your support / maintenance contract that your company paid for. (there are occasional exceptions to this rule, but they're few and far between).
