Number of Workarea limitations

Hi All,
Just wanted to know whether there is any limitations for the number of workareas under a branch. Can i have around 250 workareas in each branch..Is there any disadvantage in having these many workareas.

I'm using Teamsite version 5.5.2

I don't believe there is any "hard" limit, though one might ask why you feel you need that many (250 seems like a fairly large number)?

The disadvantages would probably come into play if/when you deal with deleting files and/or directories and not everyone keeps their workareas up to date.

Another disadvantage might be performance - especially with mandatory write locking mode - though even in submit locking, when there are a lot of workareas, people may lock files (intentionally or otherwise) and forget about them, thereby making it difficult for others to get their work done.

If you have a solid process surrounding the use and up-keep of the workareas, it probably isn't that bad - but the question still remains ... why that many?

You *do* understand that a workarea is a view of the *entire* branch - and that the contents of one workarea should *only* differ from the content of another workarea in terms of new and modified files - not in terms of having some versioned files showing up in one workarea and some showing up only in another --- right?
