Changin visual format view mode from the API

Hi

I know that there has been a lot of posts regarding problems with saving, when the visual format field is in html view mode. I'm also aware that in eWebEditPro 2.6+ you can force the visual format field into wysiwyg view mode, before saving, by setting the 'publishviewassource=false" in visualformatconfig.xml.

Unfortunately I'm working on an older version, and therefore wondering if there is really no means to change view mode through javascript (FormAPI) before saving - for instance by invoking an event on the cmdviewaswysiwyg control?
