Which table store assets ID?

By executing a SQL Query, I got an asset ID from the assets table. Now, I would like to retrieve the Asset object by using the asset id. But it doesn't seems to work.

In web services, I was trying call the .GetAsset() method but I got this errors message:

MBException: The requested asset is unavailable.

Can anyone help?

By the way, where can I find out what is the checkout time for the asset from the database?

Are you sure that the id you retrieved from the SQL query corresponds to the actual base asset? In other words, the id should be exactly the same repoID that you get when you bring up that asset in ImageInfo.asp from the web client.

Okay this is part of the advnaced course :-).

On the server there is a concept of a base asset such that two references to the same asset share a common identity. To the model and clients (i.e., via the API) different references are separate images (the fact that they share the same metadata is considered coincidental, as it were). That's an oversimplification but goes to explain:

The id you want is the id field in the assetrefs table. For this purpose you can ignore the assets table. Note you do not want the baseid which is a foreign key back to the assets table.

If you are using 4.0 or beyond you also want to specify isContainer = 0 in any query to the assetrefs table.

Please note that direct manipulation (or reading) of the database is not officially supported and not guaranteed not to break. It is always best to stick to the API!
