Hi,

I am using callServer formApi in my javascript which runs from the DCT

var parameters=new Object();
parameters.area="news";
parameters.pt_name="news.tpl";
parameters.dcr_name=IWDCRInfo.getDCRName();
parameters.jspPath="news";

IWDatacapture.callServer("http://ipaddress/iw-bin/generatept.ipl",parameters); ipaddress=servername

So I try to run above code bu it doesn't work, however when i try to run generatept.ipl from the command line with the parameter, it works fine.

If somebody has any idea please let me know.
Environment TS 6.1+Solaris 5.8

I believe CallServer is expecting a CGI program - not a command-line program. Is generatept.ipl the former or the latter? If the latter, try re-coding it to behave like the former (i.e. parameters are not received on the command line, they're received by processing a CGI or TeamSite::CGI_lite object)

Parameters are being passed, I checked the log, it throws the error

I checked the permission which seems ok to me for my script and I m using iwpt_compile.ipl, through command line it works fine only giving the problem when I run through DCT.

So you know the problem please let me know.

Well, it sounds like a permissions problem - which means the script running from the DCT is not being run as the same user (or with the same environment information) as the script when you run it with iwpt_compile.ipl from the command line.

I'd suggest adding some additional debugging - like printing out the values of $<, $>, $(, $) and sort(keys(%ENV)) - and compare the results from when run on the command line as opposed to when run from the DCT.

Well fish,

I am debugging it but couldn't get any idea because from the same user I login to the teamsite and save the dct which invokes the script and pass variable and the result of that script is saving in log file which prepare the iwpt_compile.ipl command and execute it and I see the same error

But once I go the unix and login from the same user and run the scrpt throught the command line and pass the same parameter it executed so I couldn't figure out t why its not generating the page from DCT even though it executes the script and run the above command but not outputing page.

If you add the debugging information I suggested in my previous response you should be able to tell whether or not the code is being invoked by the same user and/or with the same environment. If it isn't - that's where to begin the analysis - and folks here in the forum may be able to help. Without that information, we're just shooting in the dark because we can't replicate your problem because we're not in your environment.

I don't know which debugging information you said but when I invoke the script from the DCT I passes the parameters which I am logging in my log files and also the command of iwpt_compile.ipl and tried to use the same user account from dct as well as from command line. If you could elaborate more which infomation i need debug more could be beneficial for me to solve this problem.

We had a similar looking permission error when we call callServer from formapi script. We were running iwgen in the ipl script which gives permission error when executed from callserver but works perfectly fine when executed from command line. After troubleshooting for a whole day we found that scripts executed from templates execute as "iwui" user and that user did not belong to the group which owned the backing store branch. After adding iwui to the branch "group for sharing", it was able to write to the branch/workarea.
Well for now as a work around, our solution was to add iwui to the group which shares branch, workarea. Did any of you find a similar problem? Adding iwui to all groups in the backing store does not seem to be the right solution.
