TS 6.1 on Solaris

I am trying to send e-mail from a workflow. I am using the out-of-the-box versions of ccmail_header.tpl and iw_solution_email.ipl. I have debugging enabled and am getting an error written to iw_solutions_debug.log

I have tried using 2 different formats for email_map.cfg (one with <emailConf> and one without)

version 1:
<emailConf>
<user name="tsuser1" fullname="TS User 1" email="tu1@mycogroup.com"/>
<user name="tsuser2" fullname="TS User 2" email="tu2@mycogroup.com"/>
</emailConf>

version 2:
tsuser1: tu1@sbigroup.com
tsuser2: tu2@sbigroup.com

It is also not clear to me where email_map.cfg should be located. I have tried IWHOME/local/config/wft and IWHOME/local/config/wft/solutions.
My wft file is in IWHOME/lovcal/config/wft/solutions as is iw_solution_email.ipl

If I comment out any lines using iwov_emailmap in ccmail_header.tpl, I do not get the error.

It should be in:
/opt/interwoven/iw-home/local/config/wft/email_map.cfg

or wherever you define it in iw.cfg under the section [iwsend_mail] eg::

[iwsend_mail]
debug_output=yes
maildomain=yourdomain.com

use_mapping_file=yes
email_mapping_file=/opt/interwoven/iw-home/local/config/wft/email_map.cfg

Location is defined in the iw.cfg:

use_mapping_file=false
email_mapping_file=/u03/iw-home/local/config/wft/email_map.cfg

THis is the form (for 5.X)

</emailConf>

which matches what you have.

What file is referenced in iw.cfg ?

Keep in mind there are 2 different and unique email_map.cfg files - yet another brilliant design brought to you by Interwoven. iw_solution_email.ipl expects to use the email_map.cfg file that resides in iw-home/local/config/wft/solutions. There was a thread long ago that mentioned why there are 2 email map files named the same for different purposes, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

Your version 1 looks correct at first glance for your email_map.cfg file that should reside in the .../wft/solutions path. Why do you think the problem lies in your email map? Could there be something else in your header tpl file that is being defined wrong? It defnitely takes some tweaking to get the iw_solution_email.ipl file to work properly. I did a lot of debugging via printing stuff to a log file before I got it working.

I wonder why. I have been using the solutions email script for quite some time on many implementations; W2K as well as Solaris without modifying it.

Actually I customized it quite a bit so that's probably why it took a bunch of iterations for me to get it working the way I wanted it to. It's not an easy thing to debug, at least for me, because prior to implementing it we had never used any form of templating. And as we can see by the original post in this thread, the error messages you get are not user friendly.

One of the shortcomings of the script is when you want to email multiple people, some of whom may not be a part of the workflow. I had to build a wrapper to accomodate that.

I agree that if you want to make some enhancements to the solutions emails it may not be straight forward. If you wanted to use it OOTB you should not have to tweak it.

As pointed out earlier, the problem is most likely in the tpl or the email map.

You are right, debuggin TPLs can be a pain, specially if you never used -ocode option.
