error generating

Hello Everyone,

I am working On Teamsite 5.0.1 on Windows 2000 OS, i am trying to play with Templating. i have the pressrelease template which comes with the Teamsite, i have followed all the procedures of Manual ( Creating Templatedata and checking all the datacapture.cfg files and .tpl files) every thing seems alright. The DCR saves successfully when saved, but when generating its giving me this following error,

iwtmplhtmlwizard Error:

Error in presentation template:\default\main\template_samples\WORKAREA\work\templatedata\internet\pr\presentation\pr1.tpl

i am sure i have made necessary changes in templating.cfg for this DCR to run, my datacapture.cfg and pr1.tpl look good, but i couldn't generate .html, please help me , I don't know where it went wrong.

Have you tried running the compile script on the template? It's typically more descriptive with errors than is the browser.

Absolutely...

it's located at <iw-home>/bin/iwpt_compile.ipl and there is pretty extensive documentation about it at http://(your teamsite server)/iw/help/tst/pt/iwpt_compile.html .

It should be self-explanatory but let me know if I can be of further help.

Hello Dave,
Now i have a new problem, After checking on the iwpt_compile.ipl, i tried to create a new Data Record and it gave me this error

" Teamsite Templating Client is not installed on this machine, Please Install before continuing" this message is wierd, cuz my machine already have teamsite templating. Please help.

That's really bizarre -- I'm trying to remember version 5.0.1 and I know how Templating works differently in that version. Are you noticing any other strange things when trying to do regular development work?

I apologize -- I'm at a loss. It sounds like something deeply internal and perhaps IW Support might be able to help?

I don't think IW Support will help as TS 5.0 is no longer supported. Be prepared to hear that you should upgrade if you contact them.

Ohhh, that's right. Well, as long as they don't request you to submit a diagnostic report, you could ust SAY you're using 5.5.2. I believe the templating between the two versions are at least very similar to each other.

is it possible that the 'use java templating' bit got set on your system, so it's looking for the fat client that was part of 4.5. and 5.0 but not 5.5.x?
