Getting form information to JSP

Iam trying to get a file name that is selected in my workarea.
Guess we can use like show_env.ipl in perl, but how can we achieve this through jsp.

Can you explain what is the sequence of event you are trying to do? What is the action taken after you select your file in your workarea? Do you invoke some workflow ??
