Invoking method within Presentation template

On my DCT I have a drop down box.Based on the option selected I want to provide description in the output file during preview.
To achieve this, when user hits preview the TPL calls a perl module and reads all the values into an array from database.Now to inline the appropriate description, I invoke a method with id as parameter.But the sequence of processing of the code is causing either syntax error or the call is not getting parsed correctly.
Please let me know, to get arround this problem.Also attached is the snippet of code.

I prefer the next way:


<iw_if expr="{iw_value name='dcr.Page_Content.StandardBoilerplateText'/} ne '' ">

It works for me in my TPLs.

If you want to replace this you need to call in <iw_perl> block:

    iwpt_output (getDetail(iwpt_dcr_value('StandardBoilerplateText.boilerPlate')));
    iwpt_output ('<br>\n');
]]>
</iw_perl>

Revise your TPL and use my suggestions, perhaps it works. Also read the help at your TeamSite installation:

Thanks a lot.It worked.....
How do I make the value persist between successive calls. I had to modify the code.
It might sound stupid but I am new to Perl.
