deleting source file
sachin_sharma78
Hi all,
Sorry for my ignorance, can anybody tell me whats the best way to delete the source and target files ? In my case i m storing all the html files(generated from 13 diff templates) after generation in a single folder in teamsite and using filelist to deploy them to staging and later on to production server.
My teamsite version is 6.1 and open deploy version is 6.0.1 and server is windows 2003.
regards,
Sachin

Your question is a bit unclear.
To delete the files at the source ... delete the files at the source.
To delete the files at the target ... ensure that you list those deleted files in your filelist (you said you were using a filelist) and make sure you have doDeletes enabled within the deployment configuration file.

Basically i want to know how to delete file from source server, i mean manually or there is some function for it. From dodelete I can delete the file from target server only and i dont know if there is some other function to do the same at the source server.

How are the files being maintained at the source server?
Are they within TeamSite? (if so - delete them the way you normally would in TeamSite: delete them in the workarea, submit the deletions to staging, potentially publish staging to a new edition - this can be, but need not be, workflow driven).
Are they just sitting on the local disk? (if so - delete them through whatever process you want)
OpenDeploy is not responsible for deleting files on the source server -- unless you're dealing with a reverse-deployment in which the source becomes reverseTarget and the target becomes reverseSource (in which case, the same answers apply, though in this case you would be deleting the files from the reverseSource before the deployment)
I suppose you could use a DNR script on the source side before the deployment, to delete the files on the source side - but I'm not sure how you would program in the correct logic for this to "do the right thing".
